Expert Veterinary Care at The Animal Clinic Since 1936

The Animal Clinic is the oldest veterinary clinic on Galveston Island. It has been in continuous operations since then. We set ourselves apart by offering exceptional veterinary care in more relaxed, home-like setting.
Our History

Providing Compassionate Veterinary Care Services for Over Eight Decades

Established in 1936, The Animal Clinic stands as a proud pioneer of veterinary care on Galveston Island. More than just a clinic, it's a legacy built on compassion, community, and a love for all creatures great and small. Nestled right on the beach in a historic house, our location reflects the spirit of Galveston itself - welcoming, relaxed, and deeply connected to the community. This unique setting, awarded the Texas Heritage Award, offers a warm and comfortable environment where both pets and their families feel at ease.

The Cat Clinic

We offer a separate cat-only clinic right next door to our main building. It’s the only, feline only practice on the island! Here cats can receive the specialized treatment they deserve in a more peaceful cat friendly environment. All of our Veterinarians are members of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and would love to meet your feline friend. We provide compassionate veterinary care.

Sally's Fund

The Animal Clinic tries to help homeless animals in need whenever possible. Sadly, many of those animals come from neglect and abuse cases and require extensive medical care, which can lead to financial constraints. For this purpose the clinic has created Sally’s Fund, named in honor of a shelter dog in need.

FAQ

Do you accept walk-in appointments?

Yes, we understand there are times when you may not be able to schedule an appointment. In those cases, we welcome you and your pet to visit us as a walk-in basis.

Appointments are always preferred and will take precedence over walk-ins, but we realize the importance of having this option with people’s busy schedules.

Do you offer emergency services?

Yes, during our regular business hours.

What is the process to become a new client?

Call, text or request an appointment through the widget on our home page. A response will be returned to you with our new client form to fill out.

There is a $25.00 deposit required within 24 hours of making the appointment – this will be put against your invoice at the end of the visit. If the appointment is missed the deposit is nonrefundable.

Last, have your pet(s) records sent prior to your first visit. Please have your previous veterinary clinic send them to: petinfo.TAC@gmail.com

When/where to pick up prescriptions and/or food orders?

If you are purchasing directly from the clinic, meds and food are available for pickup at the Cat Clinic during open hours. You can park on Broadway and walk in. Sorry, no dogs allowed at The Cat Clinic.

Need curb service? Just call us when you get here.

Other options available: Let us help you setup a Hills 2 Home account and have foods delivered directly to your home. Autopay/auto ship is also available.
